Not the outside in like so many of us think...

I'll let you in on a little secret....
Once I lose these last 5 lbs, then I can start going to the gym.
I would feel beautiful if I didn't have all these wrinkles; my hair was straighter/ curlier/ thicker/ longer/ less frizzy.
My body was different/ thinner/ stronger/ healthier; my skin was younger/ smoother/ clearer etc...
Once I get that next credential/degree, then I'll feel worthy....
If I had that job/boss/office space, then I would actually enjoy going to work every day...
If only my children, partner, brother, sister, parents, friends, co-workers... behaved differently, then I would be happy/ at ease/ relaxed/ accepting.
If I had nicer clothes then I would feel more confident...
I can only relax/ let loose/ be myself at the party if I have a few cocktails.....
We rely on these things to make us feel good/ happy/ at ease within ourselves, and when they don't (because they CAN'T!), we end up disappointed and confused.
Relying on things outside of yourself to magically bring you happiness NEVER works.
These feelings come from within.
You create them with your thoughts.
The good news? Thoughts are just sentences in your head.
You control them.
And because you control your thoughts, you are in control of your life.
Most of us think that happiness, pleasure, and joy come from external sources.
