Are you rushing right now too?
That back-to-work energy after summer, kids returning to school, new schedules kicking in - September has a way of putting us all in overdrive.
In the past 48 hours alone, I have:
Scheduled back-to-back meetings and then had to eat lunch in under 2 minutes standing at the kitchen counter
Spent 20 minutes searching Amazon for colored paperclips instead of doing the things I actually needed to do
Made a U-turn in the middle of the street outside a high school (and was still late to my class)
Read (nonsense) emails while my daughter tried to tell me about her day
The truth is, we know the busy isn't going anywhere.
But the frantic energy that comes with it?
That's optional.
What if we could move through life's chaos with a little more grace and a lot less stress?
(Hint! We can)

"Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going too fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why."

Here's what years of studying stress, psychology, and human behavior has taught me:
I still have busy seasons like everyone else, but now I catch myself in the rush cycle much faster.
The work I do gives me tools to recognize when I'm spiraling before I get too far down the rabbit hole.
These same tools are available to you.
When you notice you're in full-speed mode, try this reset:
** Step 1: Pause and remind yourself: "There is plenty of time for what's important."
Hint: If everything is important, nothing is. Be ruthless here.
** Step 2: Pick one simple anchor and return to it.
What could change if you picked one of these simple practices and came back to it each day:
Three deep belly breaths
Write down three things you're grateful for
2-minute journal check-in
5-minute walk outside
One minute of complete stillness
Choose one. Practice it daily.
Practice when you don't need it so it is available and familiar when you do.
Soon something magical happens.
You don't just spot the rushing and chaos - you can actually do something to shift your approach to it.
Then you're showing up in a way that makes you proud, no matter how packed your calendar gets, what your boss said, or what ridiculous clothes your child is wearing to school.
Because here's the truth:
You get to slow down on purpose.
Your peace is worth protecting, especially in the busiest seasons.
** Hit reply and let me know... is this a hectic time of year for you too? What helps?
Have a beautiful week friends,
Carolyn
