The Small Habits Quietly Burning You Out

I used to think burnout came from the really big things.

Too much work.

Too many responsibilities.

A season that was especially hard.

And sometimes it does.

But more often, I think it builds from the tiny moments we keep skipping:

the pause,

the breath,

the walk,

the moment of rest,

the honest “no,”

The hard part is that these things seem too small to matter in the moment, so we skip them.

Until we realize they were the things holding us together all along...

These aren’t huge life changes.

They’re small resets that help you come back to center in real time🌿

1) Intentionally enjoy your morning coffee ↳ No phone. No multitasking. Just drink your coffee before the day starts pulling at you.

2) Sit quietly for 2 minutes before checking your phone ↳ Give your brain a minute to wake up before taking in everyone else’s thoughts and demands.

3) Write down 3 good things ↳ It helps train your brain to notice more than just what’s stressful or unfinished. Science-backed!

4) Schedule 10 minutes in your calendar to do nothing ↳ If you don’t create small pauses on purpose, your day stays full from start to finish.

5) Take a short walk without listening to anything ↳ We don't always need to do 2 things at once. Just walking is plenty on it's own.

6) Practice self-compassion during hard moments ↳ Talk to yourself the way you would talk to someone you care about.

7) Say what you need sooner ↳ Most resentment builds when we stay quiet too long.

8) Step outside and get some sunlight ↳ Fresh air and a change of environment can reset your mood more than you think.

9) Try Box Breathing: 4-4-4-4 ↳ Slow breathing is one of the quickest ways to calm your body when stress starts building.

10) Stretch between tasks ↳ Stress shows up physically too, especially when you’ve been sitting and pushing all day.

11) Go to sleep 10 minutes earlier ↳ Small changes are easier to stick with than dramatic routines you won’t keep up.

12) Say “no” once this week without overexplaining ↳ You don’t need a long justification every time you protect your time or capacity.

You don’t always need a complete life overhaul.

You just need more moments that help you feel like yourself again.

Happy May!

Have a beautiful week🤍
