10 Ways to Make Your Day Feel 20% Lighter (without doing less)

I used to think lighter days came from having less to do.
Less on the calendar.
Fewer responsibilities.
More space.
And yes, that helps.
But what I’m learning is this:
You can have the exact same day…
and experience it completely differently.
Not because the work changed.
But because how you approach it did.
How much friction you create around it.
How many things your brain is holding at once.
The number of distractions you allow.
Some days feel heavier not because they are heavier…
but because everything requires more effort than it should.
And that’s the part we can actually shift.

You don’t need a completely different schedule to feel better in your day.
You just need less friction inside the one you already have.
These are small, practical ways to make your day feel lighter in real time:
1️⃣ Reduce start friction
↳ Starting is the hardest part
↳ Decide: “I’ll just open the doc and write one line”
2️⃣ Reduce decisions wherever you can
↳ Small decisions drain you
↳ Batch emails, meals and simple choices
3️⃣ Let go of the "There's not enough time" narrative
↳ Focus on what actually matters
↳ Remind yourself, "There is plenty of time for what's important" (My FAV reminder for busy days😊)
4️⃣ Name the next step out loud
↳ It creates instant clarity
↳ Say: “Next, I’m sending this email”
5️⃣ Build in small resets between tasks
↳ Stress builds without pauses
↳ Stand, breathe, or step outside for 2 minutes
6️⃣ Turn repeat tasks into routines
↳ Routines remove decisions
↳ Do key habits at the same time daily
7️⃣ Clear your visual field
↳ Clutter = mental load
↳ Close tabs or reset your space
8️⃣ Decide what doesn’t need attention today
↳ Not everything is urgent
↳ Move one thing to tomorrow on purpose
9️⃣ Shrink the scope of what you’re doing
↳ Smaller is easier to start
↳ Do one small step, not the whole task
🔟 Close one loop before moving on
↳ Completion creates relief
↳ Finish one small thing before switching
You don’t need a different life to feel better in your everyday✨
Have a beautiful rest of the week friends!
