Nothing Is Wrong with You. This Season Is Just a Lot

ree

I’ve noticed myself answering “I’m fine” a lot this week.

Not in a dishonest way.

More in a protective way.

Fine as in tired.

Fine as in emotionally stretched.

Fine as in feeling a little disconnected, even with a full calendar and a lot of people around.

There’s a strange paradox this time of year.

So much togetherness.

So many gatherings.

And yet, for many people, very little real connection.

December has a way of amplifying that gap between how things look and how they actually feel.

If this season feels heavier than you expected, know this:

You’re not broken.

You’re just responding to a lot of pressure, noise, and expectation all at once.

When connection feels hard, most people try to reach outward.

More plans.

More conversations.

More effort.

But when you’re disconnected from yourself, none of that really lands.

This season is especially good at pulling you out of your own rhythm.

Your time fills up.

Your attention fragments.

And without realizing it, you drift from yourself.

That’s often why connection feels harder right now.

Here’s what actually helps:

1️⃣ Pause before responding

↳ One breath before the next yes, reply, or commitment.

2️⃣ Create one quiet moment

↳ Sit in your car. Stand at the sink. Walk without your phone.

3️⃣ Name what you’re feeling

↳ “What I’m really feeling right now is ___.” No fixing required.

4️⃣ Protect one small boundary

↳ Leave earlier. Say no once. Log off when you said you would.

5️⃣ Check in before reaching out

↳ Ask: “What do I need right now?” then respond from there.

These aren’t big changes.

They’re small ways to come back to yourself - which is often what makes connection with others feel possible again.

Connection doesn’t start with doing more.

It starts with remembering yourself✨

Which part of this feels most familiar right now?

Reply and let me know.

Sending love,

Carolyn
