Why You Need a Holiday Mantra

As you might have guessed by now, I'm a Big Fan of a mantra. Or any simple phrase you can repeat to yourself in challenging or even really beautiful moments.

Do you have a holiday mantra? The one you can fall back on when:

* Your mom criticizes your outfit, or your choice of serving dishes, or the way you did your hair or any number of things to pick on.... (not that my mom would ever do this ;)

* You have 300 things to do and then the kids randomly have an early dismissal for no apparent reason

* You forgot to turn the oven on, or you left the food in too long and now it's inedible, or you forgot to get the main ingredient and now the stores are closed and you can't pick it up (these things have all happened to me btw!)

* No one has shoes that fit (how does this happen every year, and why am I always surprised when it does?)

Try some of these mantras on for size for those tough moments. Feel free to modify, add on, adjust so they suit YOU. Let me know if you have any favorites to add to the list!

  • Breathe in, breathe out

  • Real beauty is in the simple things

  • I will not let perfect get in the way

  • There is plenty of time for what's important

  • It's not forever, it's just right now

  • I am enough exactly as I am

  • I'm in charge of the way I show up

  • Everything I need is within me now

  • I am responsible for the energy I bring into the room

  • I create calm with a single deep breath

  • I can always trust in me

  • I find joy if I look for joy

  • I showed up

  • I am doing the best I can

  • I am worthy of love and respect

  • My body and mind are healthy

  • I radiate positivity

  • How can I think about this differently

  • I am in charge of my calm

Hope you find these helpful in some of the challenging moments that the holidays have a special way of.... magnifying ;)

Mostly, I hope this holiday season is merry and bright, and filled with all the joy, family time, alone time, pajamas, fancy clothes, generosity, snuggles (from dogs, children, people, your weighted blanket...), beauty, warm chocolate chip cookies and milk, wonder, laughs with friends, sappy Hallmark movies, love, and whatever else it is that makes your heart SING.

I can't WAIT to see what 2023 has in store for us ✨
