We're just floating along.
And it's fine because you're not thinking about it in the moment (who has time for that?!), but when the year passes and nothing has changed, or the 5 years go by in a blink and you feel like you have nothing to show for it, it feels like a failure + apathy + embarrassment sandwich.
"This isn't what I expected/wanted/hoped for in my life"
This can be... soul crushing.
We are often crystal clear on what we DON’T want to happen, but we rarely let ourselves envision, imagine, and live from that place of what we DO want.
✨ Remember, where you are now is the sum of actions and thoughts that you've had in the past.
✨ Where you will be in 1, 5 or 10 years, is the sum of actions and thoughts you are having NOW.
If all the results you have in your life are amazing - then wonderful, keep doing what you're doing!
And if there are areas in your life that feel incomplete, imbalanced, less than, out of focus, sucky, terrible, not what you thought they would be... then NOW is the time to change it.
Try this one step you can take TODAY toward your future.
The Miracle Question
The Miracle Question is a powerful tool often used in Cognitive Behavioral Psychology (CBT) to help people get clear on what they want, especially without the perceived barriers that might impede progress.
When you know where you're going, it's so much easier to get there ✨
Write. This. Out. You can't do this in your head. The more effort and detail you put in, the better. (When I do them they are several pages long).
So, here it is, The Miracle Question:
If I could wave a magic wand and solve all of your problems overnight, what would your life look like when you woke up in the morning?
✨ What would be the same, what would be different?
✨ Where are you?
✨ Who is there with you?
✨ How do you feel in this life? Are you smiling, happy? Calm and at ease? Maybe it's focused and determined.
Describe this life in as much detail as possible, and then take time to sit with it.
✨ How would it feel to wake up in this life?
✨ How would you show up differently?
✨ What could you do today that would be a step toward that life?
✨ What would you need to think about yourself/your life in order for this to become your reality?
Consider all the possibility that awaits when you give yourself an opportunity to imagine it.
