5 signs you're more ready than you think

I have a super fun habit of convincing myself I need to do a little more before I start 💃

A little more research...

One more book...

Maybe a course...

And then I'll be ready.

Maybe you do this too?

We tell ourselves:

I have to learn more first

I need more experience

I'll do it when I feel more confident

And sometimes, that's true.

Sometimes we really do need more information or experience.

But other times?

We're ready enough. We're just more comfortable preparing than starting.

I've had to remind myself of this MANY times.

There comes a point when another book, course, certification, or week spent thinking about it isn't actually moving you forward.

You. Just. Have. To Do. The. Thing.

You may not feel ready first.

You start, figure some of it out, and get more confident as you go.

5 signs you might be more ready than you think:

1) You keep learning the same things in different places

Another book. Another podcast. Another course. And a lot of it sounds... familiar.

🔥 Try this: Before you learn anything else, ask: What do I actually still need to know to take the next step? If you can't come up with an answer, take the step.

2) You've been saying "soon" for a while

Soon I'll apply. Soon I'll reach out. Soon I'll start writing. Soon I'll finally have that conversation.

🔥 Try this: Turn "soon" into something specific. What's one thing you can actually do this week?

3) You're waiting to feel more confident

This one gets me. We think confidence needs to come first.

🔥 Try this: Do one small version of the thing before you feel completely ready. Confidence comes from having evidence that you can do something, and you can't get that evidence without doing it.

4) You're spending more time preparing than practicing

Researching how to do something can feel a lot safer than actually doing it.

🔥 Try this: For every hour you spend learning about it, spend an hour actually doing it.

5) You already know what your next step is

You don't need a 12-month plan. You probably don't even need to know what comes after step one.

🔥 Try this: Ask yourself: What's the smallest thing I could do to move this forward today? Then do that.

You don't have to know everything before you begin.

Sometimes you learn the next part by doing the first part ✨

Always cheering you on,

Carolyn
