The Slow Summer Slide No One Warns You About

I love summer.

And yet… it’s also the season where I’m most likely to stop doing the things that actually help me feel good.

The walks.

The routines.

The boundaries.

The Wednesday night family dinners.

The tiny habits that keep life manageable.

Everything gets a little looser this time of year - which can be great.

Until it starts feeling chaotic instead of freeing.

So before schedules fully shift and routines disappear, here are 7 ways to stay grounded this summer.

Even one or two small shifts can help you feel more grounded, present, and like yourself again.

You don’t need to do all 7.

Start with the one that feels most aligned.

Go from there.

(#6 is so underrated!)

1️⃣ Keep one habit non-negotiable.

↳ A walk, workout, or quiet morning - keep one thing steady even when schedules shift.

2️⃣ Decide what matters most before summer gets busy.

↳ More dinners outside, downtime, workouts, or family time? Put those on the calendar first.

3️⃣ Protect your mornings when you can.

↳ Even 15 minutes without emails, texts, or social media can change how your whole day feels.

4️⃣ Stop waiting until you're exhausted to slow down.

↳ Take breaks before you “need” them, not after you’ve already hit a wall.

5️⃣ Don’t abandon structure completely.

↳ A few simple anchors - wake time, meals at home, or a Sunday reset - can make life feel a lot less chaotic.

6️⃣ Create a little more boredom.

↳ Not every free minute needs to be filled with productivity, errands, or stimulation.

7️⃣ Let a few things be simple this summer.

↳ Easy dinners. Repeat outfits. Lower expectations. Everything doesn’t need to be a production.

You don’t need a completely different life this summer.

Just a few small shifts that help you enjoy the one you already have.

Happy Summer friends☀️

Always,

Carolyn
