"This wasn’t supposed to happen"

What if the setback you're experiencing right now isn't actually a setback at all?
The job that didn't work out.
The relationship that ended.
The plan that fell apart.
The opportunity that went to someone else.
I’m not going to tell you that everything happens for a reason.
Sometimes something ends and it simply hurts.
Sometimes it isn’t what you wanted, and you would never have chosen it.
But even when you don’t get to choose what happened, you still get to choose what happens next.
That’s the shift I keep coming back to in my own messy moments and in my work with people navigating change:
Instead of only asking, “Why did this happen to me?” try asking:
“Given that this happened, what is available to me now?”
You don’t have to immediately find the lesson, see the silver lining, or be excited about starting over.
You just get to notice that the road in front of you may be different... but it isn’t gone ✨

7 questions to ask when life changes the plan:
1. What do I need before I make my next move?
↳ Rest? Information? Support? A little distance? You don’t need to make a major decision while you’re still reeling.
2. What is this situation showing me?
↳ Complete this sentence: “I know now that I need…” Keep it honest. You don’t have to force a lesson or silver lining.
3. What would I tell someone I love in this situation? 🤍
↳ Borrow the perspective and compassion you naturally give to other people.
4. What am I most afraid will happen now?
↳ Go beneath the surface and name the actual fear. It’s easier to work with once it becomes specific.
5. Which option feels most aligned - not just 'least scary'?
↳ Fear gets a voice, but it doesn’t get the final vote.
6. What needs to be decided now and what can wait?
↳ You probably don’t need to solve the next six months today.
7. What is one move I can make this week?
↳ One email. One conversation. One hour of research. You only need the next step.
You may not have chosen this change.
But you still have choices within it.
Have a great week!

If you’re standing at your own fork in the road... You may not need more advice. You may need someone to help you quiet all the competing thoughts, separate fear from fact, and figure out what *you* genuinely want to do next. That’s why I created The Fast-Track Reset Across three private sessions, we’ll work together to: → Get clear on what’s really keeping you stuck → Sort through the options without overthinking every possible outcome → Identify the path that feels right for you → Turn that clarity into practical next steps You don’t need to figure it all out alone. You just need the right space, questions, and support to see your next step more clearly. |
