You can be surrounded by people and still feel disconnected

I’ve been having so many conversations with my clients lately about loneliness and connection.

Not dramatic loneliness.

Just that subtle feeling of disconnection underneath very full lives.

Going through the motions.

Talking to people all day long.

Constantly interacting.

And still somehow feeling disconnected underneath it all.

I believe we are solving loneliness backwards.

The common advice is to reach outward - call more people, make more plans, and join more groups.

And while those things matter… we are skipping the most important step.

Before we can create deeper, more meaningful connection with other people, we have to reconnect with ourselves first.

And that’s the part so many of us unintentionally avoid.

We stay busy.

Distracted.

Constantly stimulated.

Always responding to everyone and everything around us.

But rarely still long enough to actually check in with ourselves.

Here are 7 simple ways to reconnect with yourself - so you can create deeper, more meaningful connection with other people too 👇🏼

7 Simple Ways to Feel More Connected (Starting With Yourself)

Before we can create deeper connection with others, we need to first create it with ourselves.

Not in some huge life-changing way.

Just small moments of checking in instead of constantly rushing out.

1️⃣ Start your morning with one deep breath

↳ Hand to heart. One slow breath. Quick reminder: How lucky to be here for another day of this beautiful life ✨

2️⃣ Try a simple 3x3x3 journal practice

↳ Write down:

• 3 things you’re grateful for

• 3 priorities for the day

• 3 things you’re proud of

3️⃣ Spend 5 minutes doing one thing without distraction

↳ Drink your tea slowly. Sit outside. Stretch. Walk. No multitasking.

4️⃣ Pay attention to when you feel most like yourself

↳ Notice the people, habits, and environments that make you feel calmer, lighter, or more grounded.

5️⃣ Notice what consistently drains you

↳ Constant rushing, clutter, overcommitting, doomscrolling, and nonstop stimulation add up faster than we realize.

6️⃣ Build tiny pauses into the day

↳ A few deep breaths before walking into the house. Sitting in the car for one minute before the next thing.

7️⃣ Stop filling every quiet moment

↳ Not every second needs your phone, noise, productivity, or input.

Small things.

But small things practiced consistently bring us back to ourselves, and help us create deeper connection with the people around us too.

It's so gorgeous in NY today, hope it is wherever you are too ☀️
